Hiring and Recruiting

This section is designed to help managers fulfill some of the administrative requirements associated with the new hire process and/or promotions and transfers of current administrative employees.

Because recruiting new talent to join our existing teams is key to making our future as remarkable as our past, the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources has implemented a number of University-wide initiatives to help managers hire highly qualified employees in a timely and efficient manner.

This guide explains the University’s current recruitment and hiring strategies and suggests strategies for improving administrative hiring outcomes throughout the University.

For all hires which are non-instructional and non-research positions, requisitons are filed online through Jobs At Columbia (JAC).

This step-by-step guide takes you through the process, from posting an open position to the final Applicant Pool Report.

There are many reasons to hire people on a temporary basis.

When it comes time to hire someone on a short-term basis, there are several available options, each with its own advantages, legal requirements, and procedures.
